Who is DJ Kaidy? Where did LostRadio come from?

Hi YOU ALL EVERYBODY! It's me, DJ Kaidy. Otherwise known as Nikki Grove. So, who is DJ Kaidy? And where did LostRadio come from? Here's the story!

Back in 1997, I returned to college, here in my home town of Williamsport, PA, to pursue a degree in Broadcast Communications at Pennsylvania College of Technology.  I held a regular shift on the college's radio station, WPTC, and eventually graduated in 2000 with an Associates Degree in Broadcast Communications AND another in Mass Communications.  Even after graduation, I continued to keep an airshift at the station, as a volunteer. My 2 hour shift consisted of mostly classic rock and some newer rock, and I featured a bunch of local musicians as well.

In October of 2004, I discovered a television show that was just premiering - LOST.  I loved the show from the first episode, and I immediately hopped online to check out any information on the show - the cast, forums, chat rooms, and such.  After a few weeks, I found a site that has forever changed my life. The Fuselage

After hanging around the Fuselage for a few weeks, I realized that not only was it really insane that the cast and creative team would "stop by" to post and "chat" with the fans, but that there was a HUGE fandom erupting.  Coincidentally, the college radio station had begun broadcasting live on the internet (as well as locally). Of course, I told my new fandom pals about my show, and I began to have quite a few Fuselagers listening every week.

Regular Fuselage posters (now close friends of mine AND Fuselage Moderators) Halfrek, Speaker, and Partyman were the first to encourage me to take my 2 hour airshift in a LOST direction. Hallie (Halfrek) told me of a radio show that existed in the past days of Buffy/Angel fandom ---The Succubus Club - where 2 gals would discuss episodes, have cast/creative team members in the studio for interviews, etc. I was intrigued.  After much persuasion, I decided to move forward. With Hallie's awesome skills (as recorder of the shows, PR person at Destination LA, and webmistress & site designer), Partyman's technical skills (back-up recorder, trouble-shooter), and Speaker's creative skills (clever breakers & jingles, ideas, and such), my plain ol' airshift reformed into LostRadio!

LostRadio began with the introduction of character-song contests, held on the Threaded Board of the Fuselage. I propose a character for the week, and the fans submit songs that either fit the character, their backstory, or their present situations/relationships on the island.  The contests were a huge success from the beginning, and the entries went from a few dozen to sometimes fifty!  The character-song contest winners got no prizes in the first season.but they did get the recognition of having picked the most appropriate song (in my opinion - I am the judge and jury!) Other contests and quizzes happen sporadically, and sometimes there are fantabulous LOST prizes! In season two, there were several VIP donated prizes much to the amazement of both me and the winners. Everyone (aka You All Everybody) who had entered for the entire season was given a prize due to the VIPs being incredibly generous. What is in store for season three? That is hard to say, so be sure to tune in each week for fun, laughs and great music.

I love being DJ Kaidy. The LOST fandom has been so supportive and encouraging, I don't have the words to thank each and every one of you enough! The VIPs who have called into the show and graciously let me pick their brains are the BEST, and I can never let them know how much it means to their fans (this one especially!). The LOST fandom has the most giving, caring, fan-friendly cast and creative team! They share their time willingly on the Fuselage and LostRadio, and they really do care about the fans. I am honored to be the "go-between" - the voice of the fans, so to speak.
Thanks to all who support the show! Enjoy the archives (thanks Hallie!) and if you are involved with LOST and would like to be on the show, we'd love to have you! Just click on the "Contact Kaidy" button on this site.

WOO BOY HOWDY!
