A
weekend gathering and charity event for fans of the television show
LOST |
|
Updated Information for 2008 We regret to inform you that there will not be a Lost Weekend Fan party this year. If you were not aware of it, there was a writers strike involving all TV shows, LOST included. (The Writers Guild of America has since successfully negotiated a new contract and the Lost Weekend Fan Party staff celebrates their achievement.) Being fans ourselves, the staff at Lost Weekend Party decided to not go forward with plans for this year’s party based on several factors related to the strike. As you may or may not know, the majority of LOST fans were in full support with the writers strike. At the time of our decision, the strike was still in full force with many of the writers and actors choosing not to do publicity for the show during the strike. We did not want to put them in the position of having to decide between supporting the strike and partying with the fans. The potential duration of the strike and its effect on the production schedule would have wreaked havoc on any date we could possibly have chosen. It was a Catch 22 for us. If the strike ended, as it now has, everyone would be back in production and too busy to attend. If the strike had continued, radio silence would be in full force and the VIPs would be unable to attend. We did not want to exclude the fabulous LOST staff or disappoint the fans.
In spite of all of this, we have good news for you in that we are fully expecting to have a party in 2009. We want to thank you for your past support and hope to see you at our event in 2009.
Best wishes, Bob, Brigit, and Caren |
